Southern California has a wide variety of trees (native and non-native) that aesthetically stand within our landscapes at our homes, commercial properties and parks. To live in a climate that has such a diverse tree population from Palm trees to Pine trees makes our landscapes unique and distinct to other regions of our great country. For instance the best time to structurally prune pine trees in our climate is between November through March. During these months pests like the Pine Bark Beetle are inactive which gives the tree time to heal from needed pruning cuts and keep pests and disease from entering into the tree.
