Dan PaulPresident & CEO
Dan started Green Horizons Landscape in 1986 and has over 30 years experience in landscape maintenance and construction. Dan holds California State licenses C27 and D49 and the Certified Applicator License through the Department of Pesticide Regulations. Dan is proud of the team he has assembled at Green Horizons and has developed a company culture that embraces safety, quality, customer service and continual improvement. He and his wife Ileana enjoy traveling and seeing different parts of the world. They have a son who is an airline pilot and 2 furry kids Alfie and Tiffany.
Gela AlayvillaVice President
Gela is originally from Kauai, Hawaii and transplanted to California in 1997. Although she loves living in California, Hawaii will always be her home. She strives to share her 'Aloha Spirit" as a part of every day life. She enjoys spending time in the water fishing and swimming with her wife and 2 children Kaikena and Ka'eo. She has been with Green Horizons since 2002. With over 25 years experience in accounting, customer service and operations management, she has a diverse background. Working closely with her office staff, she believes in providing consistent prompt service and support for both our internal and external customers. Her areas of responsibility include accounting and finance, customer service, business development and fleet management.
MaryAnn StanleyOffice Manager
MaryAnn grew up in Elgin, Illinois which is a town northeast of Chicago and she will always be a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan! She raised 2 handsome, intelligent boys who are not only her sons but her best friends. She moved to California in 2004 to be with "her Man" Tim (as her oldest son would say) and have not missed the bitter winters she grew up in, although she does sometimes miss a good snowball fight. She can be very competitive, but in a fun way and she loves to golf, swim and travel. Since living in California, she has even done some gold prospecting and loves it. Her favorite just sit down and relax hobby is counted cross stitch. She makes her own patterns and probably has made over 50 projects in her life time. Her dream is to retire in a small cabin in the mountains maybe with a small lake. She thinks she still has a little 70's free spirit in her. MaryAnn has a feisty, ‘get the job done’ attitude. She brings with her a diverse background with over 30 years of property management, facility management, and customer service. MaryAnn’s exceptional work ethic and sense of urgency makes for a perfect match in communicating customer requests and concerns promptly to the field for quick response and resolution. As a key player on our team, she is often referred to as the hub of our organization.
Angel AlayvillaStaff Accountant
Angel was born and raised on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii and comes from a family of fourteen, yes 14. Married with 4 children which brought him 12 wonderful grand children. He moved to Escondido in January 2001. His favorite hobbies include fishing, bowling, softball and he loves to watch various different sports. He loves to cook and be with his grand children and family. Angel has been with Green Horizons for over 15 years and works in the accounting department with Accounts Payable and Inventory Control.
Joy ChidgeyHuman Resources
Joy has a daughter currently attending Seattle Pacific University and 2 cats named Gordie and Gizmo. She enjoys running and has run 7 Half Marathons. She ran her first 5k race in 2014 at the Carlsbad 5000. Joy has been a part of Green Horizons since 2003 and works in our accounting department with accounts receivable and payroll. She is a "joy" to be around and would be known as the 'class clown'.
Rosa HendersonAdministrative Assistant
Rosa is the voice of Green Horizons. Customer service is her focus here and she plays a vital role in assuring our service requests are routed efficiently and appropriately. She LOVES coffee; thanks to her grandmother who could never finish a cup and little Rosita would happily take care of it for her. She's always looking forward to the newest coffee drink out thee. Most are hits and a few misses. She's a California girl all the way and even though she complains about the heat, she wouldn't want to live anywhere else. She's married and has 2 children. One's an artist and the other still hasn't figured it out yet (she's pushing for fire fighter!)

Brian ButlerProject Development Manager
Brian joined Green Horizons in January 2011. He has been in the Landscape Architecture and construction field for 18 years, the last 12 years in Project and Operations Management. Brian has professional experience in every aspect of landscape development, from design/budgeting, implementation, to turn-over. He holds a BS degree in Agriculture-Landscape Architecture from South Dakota State University, is an alumni of the MAP management program, is a certified Arborist and member of the Western Chapter ISA, is OSHA and CPR/First Aid certified, and a member of the California Landscape Contractors Association. Brian and his family are accomplished black belts in karate and enjoys the outdoors, hiking and running.
Santos has been with Green Horizons since its inception and was instrumental in growing the business over the last few decades. He enjoys spending time with his family and has a passion for working on cars, a passion he shares with his two sons. You can usually find Santos in his garage working on these classis cars or maybe out on the 101 cruising on his Harley. Santos is a Certified Landscape Technician and Certified Recycled Water Supervisor and has a unique eye for landscape quality.
Robert BarelaAccount Manager
Robert is a family man and enjoys spending time with his wife, 7 children and 7 grand children at the beach, movies and visiting the mountains. He is an active member of his community in Carlsbad and donates his time to schools and coaching various sports for his young sons. He loves getting to know the people he is fortunate to work with everyday. He has been a member of the landscape profession for over 25 years. His experience began at the City of Anaheim, where he spent years working in the tree division. Following this Robert also worked for Disneyland as a member of the Landscape Maintenance Division. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to progress to the position of Account Manager, while dedicated himself to meeting the needs of his clients through providing quality service and excellent customer relations. Robert prides himself in being hands-on and hopes his positive attitude and dedication to his work continues to bring success.
Daniel BrockmeierAccount Manager/QWEL
Daniel comes to Green Horizons Landscape from a decade long career in the nursery industry, where he has extensive experience growing, maintaining and propagating many of the plants grown in Southern California. He has worked with a wide variety of plant material ranging from succulents, annual color and shrubs, to large specimen trees and palms. His knowledge of fertilizers, insects, plant identification and growing habits are a valuable asset to Green Horizons Landscape and Maintenance Inc. Daniel has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration with concentration in Business Economics from California State University, San Bernardino. Daniel is bilingual English/Spanish and is certified as a Recycled Water Site Supervisor and a Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL). He enjoys baseball, cooking, surfing, traveling and hanging out on the coast and trying foods from different cultures.
Jon HatchLandscape Horticulture Consulting
Jon has utilized his skills in resort landscape management at properties that include the Grand Del Mar Resort, Four Seasons Resort, Aviara, and the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. Having received his degree in Horticulture from Cal Poly Pomona, Jon’s experience includes positions as Project Manager and Landscape Director for LEGOLAND California, and Horticulturalist for the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Jon has done consulting work for the Mirage Hotel, Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has published articles for Xeriphitic Landscapes in San Diego Home Garden Magazine. Jon's passion is working with nurseries on developing new material and incorporating them into landscapes. A native San Diegan, he loves surfing, golf and fishing off his kayak.
Hugo CurielTree Division Manager
Hugo has been with Green Horizons for over 24 years and after working for 15 years as a maintenance supervisor Hugo was promoted to run the tree division. His hard work has resulted in increased productivity and customer satisfaction. He presently oversees 4 tree crews and works closely with staff Arborists. When Hugo isn't working he likes to spend time with his family taking his youngest daughter to the park and just relaxing with his son and three daughters. He is very proud of his oldest son and daughter who are both attending colleges up north. Hugo also enjoys visiting his home town in Mexico for the annual reunion. He takes great pride in being part of an organization that helps provide meals and entertainment for the seniors in his community.

Dave PhillipsEnhancements Division Manager
Dave embraces family and family values. He has a daughter and an adorable grandson. He collects stamps, coins an comics. In 2014 he found a joy in running and has since ran numerous 5k's and 3 half marathons. This passion for running has helped him lose over 60 pounds. He has over 25 years in the field of landscape construction. He worked his way up in the industry starting as a laborer in 1988 and holding various positions to include Foreman, Project Manager and General Manager. Dave has been with Green Horizons since May 2011 and currently manages the enhancements and irrigation services for our team. He is CPR Certified and Trench Safety Certified.
Fernando Rivera Irrigation Supervisor
Fernando was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico and relocated to California at 15 years old when he started his career in the landscaping industry. He has 8 children and 5 grandchildren. He loves spending time with his wife Veronica and enjoys taking his kids to the park, movies and watching them play sports. In Fernando's 33 years of experience in landscape, he worked his way up from a labor position to foreman and is currently an irrigation technician and supervisor for the department. He strives to work hard while maintaining a safe and productive workplace. He loves his position and enjoys being a part of this company.
